Sunday volunteers Feb 10

Another beautiful summer day at the gardens for a relaxed Sunday session. Today we mainly focussed on cleaning up the central vegetable garden beds and putting in some mid summer crops like more bush beans (to replace the ones decimated by Bower birds – hopefully they will have other cuisine interests by the time they sprout) and warm growing spinach and beets. We had a visit from some gardeners from the Newcastle Community Gardens. It’s always great to see and chat with like minded people from other regions! And we had a few new people drop by as well. Thanks to all those who came today!

Serious leaf removal… this is what the Bower birds had done to one lot of the beans… We may need to net them second time around…
