What a great day it was for being out in the sun and to be digging in the dirt at the community gardens. Today we weeded and turned over more soil ready for planting in the main central vegetable beds. Then we moved on down to the swales and cultivated a large space for some winter vegetable crops. Franklin moved a small mountain of wood chip onto the herb garden paths while the rest of us created a small mountain of potatoes (Sebago and Pontiac we think) that were pulled as we worked the soil on the top swale.
When all that tough back bending work was done a mob of us sat around the clay oven and ate some excellent cooked snacks.
Thanks to all that came to help out to day. 🙂
